Environmental Scientist

Mr. Bernard is a terrestrial ecologist with academic training in ornithology, soil biology, and biogeochemistry.  He has experience designing research projects, conducting and supervising field and laboratory work, programming dataloggers, building environmental sensor networks, managing databases, conducting statistical and spatial analyses, creating graphics, and writing research papers.  Mr. Bernard previously worked on a long-term research project investigating the effects of soil warming on carbon and nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems.  His master’s thesis explored patterns of habitat selection of a migrant songbird and past research investigated biotic and abiotic factors affecting distributions of non-native soil invertebrates.
